《淺談香港生態保育》

是次講座關於本地生物多樣性和保育工作，許浩霖教授將與我們探索過去保育計畫所面臨的挑戰及未來的方向。同時，邱榮光博士亦會深入講解香港大埔鳳園的蝴蝶保護區中從業人員的經驗。我們將透過一系列有關本地生物多樣性保育的過去計劃，探討所面臨的挑戰以及其解決方案。我們亦將探討政府迄今為止的相關工作以及政府在環境保育中的角色。是次講座與多個可持續發展目標（SDGs）密切相關，特別是SDG 11（可持續城市和社區）、SDG 13（氣候行動）、SDG 14（水下生物）、SDG 15（陸地生物）和SDG 17（促進目標實現的夥伴關係）。

Local Biodiversity and Conservation

Join us for an enlightening talk on enhancing local biodiversity and conservation efforts as we explore past projects, challenges faced, and future directions with Professor Jerome Hui. The experiences of practitioners in the local butterfly conservation project at Fung Yuen, Tai Po, will also be shared by Dr Yau Wing Kwong. We will study the topic with a series of past projects on local biodiversity conservation, the challenges encountered, and how they could be overcome. The talk will also discuss on what the government has done thus far and make suggestions for future projects. This talk is highly relevant to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

許浩霖教授是香港中文大學生命科學學院教授，於牛津大學獲得博士學位。他目前的主要研究興趣包括昆蟲和節肢動物生物學、海洋生物技術、分子生態學、生物多樣性的保育、人畜共患疾病、昆蟲與植物的相互作用、基因組學和動物進化等。 Professor Jerome Hui is a Professor at the School of Life Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Oxford. His primary research interests include arthropod and insect biology, animal-plant interactions, molecular ecology and conservation of biodiversity, evolutionary biology and genomics.

邱榮光博士於1997年創辦大埔環保會，關注本地環保議題，鼓勵市民參與全港及全球性環境及社會事務。大埔環保會建立「鳳園蝴蝶保育區」，保育香港九成的蝴蝶品種，並設立民間地質教育中心，協助香港獲得世界級地質公園評級。 Dr Yau Wing Kwong founded the Tai Po Environmental Association in 1997, focusing on local environmental issues and encouraging social participation in both local and global environmental and social affairs. The association established the Fung Yuen Butterfly Reserve, which conserves 90% of butterfly species in Hong Kong. They also set up a community-based geological education centre, contributing to Hong Kong’s recognition as a world-class geological park.
