The Chinese University of Hong Kong is a socially responsible institution of higher education committed to sustainable development. We value university social responsibility (USR) and articulate our USR priorities and connect them to sustainable development in the Strategic Plan 2021–2025. We are determined to translate USR into action to make a difference.
The Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Office (SRSDO) is charged to advise senior management on key areas of USR and to execute, evaluate and enhance the USR action initiatives outlined in the Strategic Plan. The office is composed of four sections including:
Communications and Engagement Section
- Communicating USR and engaging the community for sustainable development, and serving as the secretariat of SDSN Hong Kong.
Climate Action Section
- The outreach arm of the University's sustainable development and climate action function and the manager of the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change.
Smart Campus Section
- Managing the smart campus initiative and promoting efficient space planning and utilization.
Environmental Sustainability Section
- Advancing environmental sustainability on campus through policies and infrastructure to reduce carbon footprint.
The SRSDO Logo

The monogram depicts the letters SRSDO, the acronym of the Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Office. It also outlines the iconic skyline of our hometown, Hong Kong, signifying a sense of community, where everyone is contributing to the common good. The colours of the SRSDO logo match those of the icons of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations. It symbolizes CUHK's commitment to building a sustainable future for all.
