‘Design Thinking Summer 2024’ Successfully Concluded
The Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Office of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and SDSN Hong Kong have organized the Design Thinking Summer Training Programme to secondary school students for the 4th consecutive year. This year’s theme is ‘Developing a Sustainable Community’. The training programme concluded with an award ceremony on 12 December 2024 at CUHK. Professor Nick Rawlins, CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President, and Mr Edwin Lau, MH, the Founder and Executive Director of The Green Earth, presented certificates and awards to students to recognize their active participation and outstanding performance.
28 students from 7 secondary schools participated in Design Thinking Summer 2024 Training Programme. After three months of training and practice, they have completed the challenge, promoting the messages of Sustainable Development Goal 10 ‘Reduced Inequality’ and Goal 11 ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ in their respective schools and communities. All the participants have completed participation in CUHK’s training activities, conceptualized and filmed Reels videos, implemented promotional plans within their schools, designed and led community tours, participated in CUHK’s online public exhibition, and delivered a presentation. Each of them was awarded the Sustainable Development Leader Certificates in the Award Ceremony.
The vice principals and teachers from the participating schools also attended the Award Ceremony to support the students involved. Professor Nick Rawlins acknowledged participants’ contributions and encouraged them to continue applying what they have learned to help build sustainable communities. The three award-winning teams were invited to share the challenges they faced and the insights they gained from the training programme.
