金黃色，間以碧綠色直紋的竹竿，是本種的特色，是美麗悅目的庭園植物，竿高大，又粗壯，校園多處均見種植。

Its stem is thick and strong, bright green colored, with many internodes.  Swelling is then observed in the middle portion of each segment, taking the form of Buddha's belly, hence its alias.  It is an elegant ornamental plant, frequently seen on CUHK campus.
