從聯合前往新亞，以石為主的山坡有一行大樹，在大風、烈日和劣土下茁壯生長，它是木麻黃，因生命力頑強成為荒山、海濱的先鋒樹種。木麻黃外形似松樹（裸子植物），實為被子植物，小枝下垂，近看似幼小的木賊，源自澳洲。

Growing on the rocky cliff along the road from United to New Asia College is a row of big trees, which grow with determination despite the fierce wind and sun, and the infertile soil.  They are the Horsetail Tree, often selected as the pioneer species to reforest savage slopes and coastal fronts.  Resembling conifers in shape, they are actually angiosperms.  With a closer look the twigs remind us of the Common Scouring Rush Herb.  It is an exotic species from Australia.
