高大常綠喬木，單幹而不分枝，幹無針刺，具環紋，幼時通質，老年彎曲。夏天，把頭抬得高高，便能見到結於樹頂的椰子。椰子大而重，為安全計，校內的椰子在還未成熟墮地前，已給修剪掉。

This is a tall evergreen tree with a branchless solitary stem.  Stems are ringed, free of spikes.  Straight when young, it bends when old.  Lifting your head up in early summer, you see round and heavy coconuts hanging high up from the top.  For safety reasons, coconuts on campus have been removed before they mature and fall.  It is an introduced plant from the Arecaceae family.
