小喬木，本地野生，雌雄異株，春天開花，若是雌樹，冬天結滿紅色小果，果期較長，十分悅目，本種為常綠樹，見於鄉村風水林中或公園內，樹皮是中葯，名為救必應，可以治療感冒高熱以及各種炎症，一般製為涼茶飲用。

The Chinese Holly is a bush native to Hong Kong.  Dioecious, male and female organs are found on different plants.  Flowering is in spring.  Female trees are then full of bright red berries over a long fruiting period in winter.  This is an evergreen tree usually found in feng shui woods or recreational parks.  The bark is a Chinese medical herb known as 'Jiu Bi Ying', used to treat flu and fever and various inflammatory symptoms.  Otherwise it is often made into herbal tea for ordinary consumption.
