The University introduced an Energy Conservation Incentive Scheme (ECIS) in April 2014 to encourage positive changes in the operations of campus buildings and in building users' behaviour that will help reduce the University's electricity consumption and carbon emissions. The Scheme covers two groups of buildings (Groups A and B), and each group's electricity consumption is reviewed in two phases. Twenty Group A buildings collectively reduced about 16,000,000 kWh (6,000,000 kWh in Phase 1 and 10,000,000 kWh in Phase 2). A recognition ceremony will be held on 3 December 2018 to acknowledge the achievement of the participating units.
